Orangeism versus Communism
Trump really thinks he's cooking by running against "communism" and saying it over and over during his speeches

One day, in an independent country, God willing, there will be the political courage to do to rump orangeism what post-2014 Ukraine did to the KPU and its associated subculture.

There are very few things in life that are worst than Unionism.

* Racism
* Zionism
* Anti LGBTQ
* Neoliberalism
* Capitalism

But worst of all.............. Orangeism

A very British cancer.

The core tenet of Orangeism is to march where you are not wanted. If you are not imposing yourself on people, what’s the point.

People are far happier to understand Orangeism through both sidesism rather than understanding how it has been constructed by its greatest proponents. James Craig in 1934 explicitly linked the police, the orange order, the state, and fascism

Orangeism is not concerned with the Catholicism of Poles, Croats or Angolans. It may not like them, but that isnt its primary target. It is mainly a specifically anti-Irish movement and Irish people have to be understood as its primary target of hate.

Throwing some numbers on it - there's about 830,000 Protestants in NI and about 35,000 of them are in the Orange Order - less than 1 in 25 - so Orangeism is not a culture, it's a small minority of a population with very unusual beliefs not typical even within Protestantism.

Hello, BlueSky!

I’ve arrived to see what all the fuss is about.

Expect the usual mix of posts about politics - particularly Unionism, a dash of Orangeism, and everything in between.

Also the orange in the flag does not represent "Orangeism" and the white of coming together in brotherhood suggests maybe some change from the orange side as well as the green.

Orangeism (still) runs through the heart of the whole system. Pretend-y religion.

Last gasps of north Liverpool Orangeism?

Can you see the common thread here between Britain & the racist tropes of the union?
The Butcher's apron being the obvious one, The St George's flag of English nationalism.
The star of Orangeism,
The Loyalty to the British crown.

It is one of oppression, overlordship, & entitlement of the empire.

One of the most tragic things about that with Gove is that he's from Aberdeen. Orangeism is not really a thing there at all, so he's consciously chosen to adopt it as an adult

Scottish Labour is a party for an exceedingly specific electorate that rejoices in not understanding the rest of the country, led by clowns who have no idea how coalitions are broadened. The Scottish Tories are the party of Orangeism without the bombastics.

Morning @birkodes.bsky.social I’m in work at 1pm. The 12th of July used to be the worst day to work on the railway years ago . Absolute carnage on the Southport line. Now its very quiet , orangeism is going the same way as the dodo 👍👍

The complete erosion of Orangeism as a political force in Canada is genuinely interesting

It comes as no surprise that BBC Planet Ulster has decided to platform the extremists of loyalism and unionist carpet baggers, just days after the annual Bigot Fest that is Orangeism reached its grotesque crescendo, to criticise Féile an Phobail agus Cumann Lúthchleas Gael. #BBCTalkback

It's for the same reason that Martin Luther Kind didn't get invited to KKK Rallies.

The Orange Lodge is fucking bonkers.

Fascinating to me as a Not Football person: obviously, OBVIOUSLY I am aware of the cultural background here but I am also aware of what Sport is and that it is also 2026 not 1926 and just perhaps it is no longer the case that every criticism of a football team is Thinly Veiled Orangeism

Orangeism is anti Nationalist and anti Europe everywhere.
June 6, 2025 at 4:33 PM
It's the equating Orangeism == Nationalism.

Not recognising that Orangeism is predicated on racial & ethnic exclusionary identity, with whole heaps of Supremacies and very odd Bible interpretation.

The two are not comparable, i can't even think of an equivalent on the Nationalist side.
