Question: if you don't use transit (or only rarely), why is that? Time? Hassle of paying? Limited transit service in your area? Unreliable? Something else? (This is a genuine question to better understand barriers people face with transit, not a judgement that you 'should' be using transit more!).

We should do this with #OttLRT: “line 1 is down because of a problem with a switch. Line 1 was designed, built & maintained by RTG, a P3 consortium hired because of their cheap price to undermine public value in transit and proudly operated by OC Transpo”

Artificially high parking fees (esp. for monthly passes) has functionally been one half of Calgary's approach to encouraging CTrain use into the downtown core - the other being restricting the number of arterial roads into the core. It's cheaper + faster to take the LRT so most downtown workers do.

I wish that #OttCity understood this: paired bike share with roll out of #OttLRT and bus routing; not that I trust OCT to deliver bike share but at least collaborate; this #LastMile connection is so critical.
Every day, NS transports more than 1.1 million train passengers.
They also know the importance of the bike-train connection. The NS make around 22,000 OV-bikes available at 300 stations for a low daily fee, greatly increasing the range and flexibility of their services.

In Brampton some, including former Premier Bill Davis, argued the lrt couldn’t go thru the old city centre cuz, in part, it would alter Brampton’s historic character.

From the IG pages: if the #OttLRT was an interesting journey no one would care if it was a bit slower. Instead we run it thru featureless tunnels, the middle of highways etc; make the trip more interesting, more reliable, more uplifting and more ppl will take it. 1/

That’s it, much of the artwork is pretty nice. But almost all of it is added on. Very little is really integrated with station design in terms of flooring or finishes, or other permanent elements that last. We need to make infrastructure beautiful. @wickdchiq.bsky.social

This is a great piece; we should be making our transit infra places of beauty. Consider #OttLRT, transit in a G7 capital; while there is some art, it’s an afterthought at best; the stations are boring, offering no sense of place/identity; a lost opportunity to showcase who we are
