Was? Check it out. And particularly given that it doesn’t even serve a naked “I need people to see my reporting” capitalistic reasoning. Outlinks don’t do numbers there anymore. By design.
“It’s still where people are” is such an absurd argument, I find it genuinely difficult to understand why any journalist would still be posting there
The reason Twitter became so relevant in the last decade was because it became a nexus between online political communities and journalists.

If journalists leave the dying husk of “X”, it’s over.

It is ridiculous for a social platform to suppress outlinks just to keep the traffic on itself. Facebook started this dumb trend long ago and its a relic of that past. No big social media platform would lose meaningful traffic due to the outlinks posted on the feeds. His response is so weak too.

When a platform discourages outlinks, bans journalists who criticize the owner, monetizes ragebait, manipulates visibility to favor the right, and prevents independent inquiry into platform dynamics — I’m afraid I do get unabashedly moralistic about participation on it.

Echoing this. Elon deliberately deemphasized any outlinks when he took over Twitter, to the point that you basically have to Trojan-horse them into posts. Even though promoting work was a big part of why we used it. It has never recovered.
"it" being Bluesky, that is. last month bsky.app referrals accounted for 5.5% of Prospect traffic, 2.5 times what we got from X. not huge, but significant

john q. youtubeface has no reason to source his data, no reason to provide outlinks, no reason to do anything other than tell you to like, subscribe, and ring that bell, because it's better for his numbers and wallet than if anyone discovers they can read it instead of having to wait for a narrator

Anyone if there's a program that you can use to see if/how your archives on the @waybackmachine.bsky.social connect to each other? (outlinks, sub pages, etc...)

Cool new features in #SubtiWiki:
You can now do a Foldseek search with your selected B. subtilis protein against the complete Foldseek database!
Moreover, Christoph has added the TED database to Outlinks. There you will see the conserved fold organization of your protein!

Yes. The fact that outlinks WORK here is a huge and underrated factor in getting people to use it, I think.

Excited to share this pre-print with Laurie Jones.

We use a combination of hierarchical clustering on outlinks in @wikipedia.bsky.social articles' revision histories and qualitative analysis of these clusters to understand collective memory processes.

we have a popup that triggers on all web links outside of our domain or those specifically listed in the popup settings (there are 63 of these exclusions). boss asked for ALL OUTLINKS ON THE SITE. i filtered it down to 180,000 and handed those over and he was like "how is this helpful?" its not!

Non #fpl - a lot of my timeline here seems to be full of the "why are you on X?" conversation
and I absolutely get it - if I didn't have a pod to promote I'd get rid of it (not that it actually does anything TBF - the algo throttles any outlinks lol)
and I think it's genuinely quite an interesting/

Yup. Everyone should make an account with @archive.org and use the Save Page Now feature with “Save outlinks” checked whenever they want to save a copy of a webpage to the Archive. That setting tells the Archive to try to save a copy of _every page linked to by the one you’re saving_.

another throwback: the blogging! City Desk has like 800 words on this, an extensive witness description, outlinks to two other local outlets, two email quotes from MPD... we truly lived in the golden age of hyperlocal graphomania

More often than not I find the binaries have not been saved.

This is from 2005. Just waiting to rot and be gone forever.

Create an account on archive.org and you can choose 'save outlinks' when using web.archive.org/save it will grab all the zips and things.

please for the love of god get off of facebook and instagram, or at the very least crosspost your shit to websites with linear timelines and basic support for outlinks. i hate using these stupid platforms, i don't know how everyone does it

Gutes Video.

Little tip - You can right click and ‘Show Link In Browser’ and ‘Show Link in HTML’ in both the Inlinks and Outlinks tabs to make it more efficient to find specific links.

3. Outlinks öffnen,

also zum Beispiel Links in Instagram-Postings erlauben.

„Das würde die Sichtbarkeit von redaktionellen Inhalten wahrscheinlich verfünfzigfachen“, sagt Andree.

btw bitchsky.app now has the toggle shown on the left! might turn into a whole settings screen in the future though

if your site doesn't have a large collection of outlinks related to your interests then what are you doing

It doesn't help that Google has so broken search, their core product, over the years that ChatGPT when it provides links actually is a better search engine. So even if you shouldn't trust the results of ChatGPT, the outlinks can be very useful.

friendly reminder: bsky treats inlinks and outlinks as seperate entities (but only if the inlink lacks images embedded into itself), meaning you can double embed.

might be helpful if you want to out-link with a big picture and include text in the form of links.

UPDATE: Please also make sure any local nonprofits pages with trans people are archived on the Wayback Machine if they are still up.

You can use the "Save page now" on web.archive.org

If you have an archive.org account (ideal), save outlinks and a screenshot as well

not the main problem at all, but how closely was he editing that he didn't clean up his links in the first place? doesn't everyone remove random tracker code because it's like a visible seam in outlinks? it's just untidy and sloppy

that said, i once asked a LLM to rearrange a sentence i wrestled 1/
