#Overshoot
Last night was a bad night for any1 who argued, at some point over the last 2 years, that

- trump gains with hispanics and young voters marked a durable realignment to the right
- higher turnout helps republicans
- trumpapalooza was going to save GOP
- polls would overshoot dems

god forbid all 4

Nobody can ever overshoot how much people hate that fucker.
"Elon Musk, that weird little shitweasel, is spending a hundred million dollars on my race because he's afraid of what I will do to him" is a winning message, and it wins big.
three things that should be extremely clear after last night

- people hate the tech overlords and you need to go after them

- theres no reason to be scared of their money

- there is no downside in bringing them to heel

Usage of the term "overshoot" should come with conditions to make explicit the implicit reliance on CDR. How many gigatonnes of carbon removal are we talking about? People who hear "overshoot" can then judge for themselves whether it is plausible or not

What will overshooting 1.5°C mean for Earth‘s ice? 🌡️❄️🏔️🌊

In collaboration with @unep.org, the @iccinet.org today published a major report, drawing on knowledge from 80+ leading scientists from 60 institutes across 25 countries.

Some key findings & implications below. 🧵

Context: In their Limiting Overshoot report published earlier this year, UNEP confirmed that we’ve been too slow at cutting greenhouse gas emissions to avoid exceeding 1.5°C without a period of ‘overshoot’.

We can still limit how far we overshoot, how long it lasts, and how much harm it causes.
November 2, 2026 at 11:01 AM
On one hand I get not wanting to overshoot but you swept fucking Texas, stop being afraid. 1994 is OVER.
Jon Ossoff put up German 7 Brazil 1 results by linking corruption with tarrifs and affordability.
"The American people don't want us to get even; they want us to get things done on their behalf."

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, who is now poised to become the next House Speaker, says that Democrats will focus on affordability concerns and not retribution after their midterm wins.
November 4, 2026 at 2:08 PM
Also, worth remembering that overshoot isn't just about how high temperatures go. It's about how long we stay there.

The damage accumulates.

The root cause of all our woes: overshoot.
November 1, 2026 at 11:45 AM
What a statement:

"The bottom line is that the world is not ready to adapt to current climatic conditions, never mind what overshoot of 1.5°C will bring."
As the 🌎 heads for warming above 1.5°C, climate adaptation is too slow.

Even if public adaptation finance tripled by 2035, it would only cover 20-29% of developing countries' needs.

More funding is needed to protect lives & livelihoods as impacts grow.

The world is not ready to adapt to current climactic conditions, never mind what overshoot of 1.5°C will bring.

Yet the new #AdaptationGap Report shows adaptation finance remains far short of global needs.

We can and must get ready.

Even a temporary rise above 1.5°C can leave lasting damage to Earth’s ice: report with @juliusgarbe.github.io shows how cutting emissions & bringing temperatures back down can limit ice loss & slow sea-level rise. Some impacts still can't be reversed on human timescales.

We now know that we will overshoot the 1.5C climate anomaly target. It’s well past time we take concerted action to mitigate anthropogenic #GHG climate forcing. The good news is #renewables+storage are cheaper than #fossilfuels, better for the #environment, #climate & #publichealth. 🧪💡🔌☀️💨💧🔋
