irritated. I saw an Instagram reel "building an ultimate budget gaming pc" and they combined a R5 5500 with a pcie4 mobo and ssd. the 5500 does not support pcie4! either pay a minimal amount more for the 5600 or dont spend extra on a mobo you cant fully utilise

My Setup: i9 13900k, RTX 4090, 64GB DDR5 @ 6000Mhz, 2TB PCIe4 SSD - Resolution: Ultra Wide (3440 x 1400) Settings: All High - DoF turned off.
Avg framerate on new map: 76-82fps
Does this track with other people's experience so far?

pcie4 ssder er bakoverkompatible med pcie3. du vil ikke merke noe, men pcie4 på hovedkortet hadde i teorien vært litt kjappere i "toppene".

The graphic card also covered up some ports like the whole SATA control and fan control 3. It just left M2 1 and PCIE4 or M2 4 as the only available port on the motherboard.
And like, it comes with an anti sag bracket but it still fucking sags 😩 Had to add a pogo stick on the front too.

fyi, another option is the msi b650 mag tomahawk
advantage of that one is it has a lot more usb ports
disadvantage of that one is that it only has pcie4 instead of pcie5 - but pcie5 is mostly a meme right now, hard to say how useful it will be in the future.

The only other board I have to test is an even older intel i5 z370 board that does not have pcie4 and a 2009 mac pro that the card won't even fit in

Needing a new PC case for the first time. I have kept the same one for 16 years from my very first build and I regrettably have to replace it because USB C is essential now. I tried to get a PCIE card first but I don't have PCIE4+ available and I don't wanna buy a new motherboard just for ports..

it's bad for gaming but fine for DL work afaik. Think 4 pcie4 slots is the highest I'm going to find. All the mining mobos still stuck on pcie3 from what I see.

I just noticed you already tried pcie4 drive that also didn't work and you have present sata drives. I'd suggest unplugging other drives and see if it changes anything. And of course check if m.2 slots are enabled at all in BIOS
