Microsoft ScanDisk, my old friend... Going through some old MFM hard drives and low level formatting/formatting them and ScanDisk makes a tool to exercise drives now. It used to be a great tool back in the day along with Norton Utilities and PCTools. Remember those early versions?

Diskette mit PCTools und Fixed Disk Organizer gefunden und die Dateien sahen noch lesbar aus.
Damit könnte ich endlich mal wieder die Virtual Machine mit DOS 3.3 und den Assistant Apps in den Originalmodus bringen, wie wir es damals ca 1989 am Bahnhof Baden hatten. 🤓

Aikoinaan tohon Kalokkiin mahtui käyttis, ohjelmointiympäristö (c ja Pascal), taulukkolaskin ( Lotus 123), WordPerfect, pari-kolme peliä. Pctools ja Norton ja jäi vielä työtilaakin ruhtinaallisesti.

My 1st machine was an amstrad 1640 that my uncle upgraded to have a 3.5 floppy. I used pctools to edit Rogue, that's the only modding I'd do till neverwinter nights came out many years later.

I remember using PCTools to edit save files from games and crank up my cash in Sim City. Sometimes you had to convert to hex first, fun times.

Ahh yes. A little defrag and that 40mb hard drive will be humming again in no time. Mind you, make sure you run the Undelete first before you do anything if you need a file back. PC Tools was the utilities choice back in the day.
