I truly believe one of our biggest environmentalism education failures as an international society is not devoting extensive class time teaching about ozone holes and PFCs and how, when a whole world gets together to definitively address a problem, we can do incredible things to heal our world.

Hydrofluoroethers (HFEs) are a class of organic solvents. As non-ozone-depleting chemicals, they were developed originally as a replacement for CFCs, HFCs, HCFCs, and PFCs. They are typically colorless, odorless, tasteless, low toxicity, low viscosity, and liquid at room temperature.

Lead paint. PFCs. Asbestos Insulation. Thalidomide. Microplastics. All of the technologies I just listed did massive damage to people and/or the environment despite working. All of them had use cases where they seemed promising or optimal. None of them become safe just because you minimize use.

I was really bothered how gleefully they gunned down PFCs mobilized by the National Guard pulling gate and tower duty. That's about as far from the center of the evil conspiracy you can get.
I joked we needed a post graduation montage of families getting folded flags from the battle of Hawkins.

Also just the idea of sending in a bunch of fucking PFCs into anywhere to serve as a model of good order and lawful behavior... I mean I did not serve but I have spent enough time near barracks to see what young men do when left to their own devices and it typically isn't working on scout badges
