It's working! Congratulations Maine -- paid leave for all means time to care for a sibling, a parent, an adult child, a loved one, and most importantly, time to receive care.

Since Paid Family and Medical Leave started in March, workers have used it largely to take time off for serious medical needs or to have kids. PFML is allowing Maine workers to take time off when they need it most.

I really understand the way work can provide necessity, and this really is a personal decision. Maybe that's what it is--people should have the ability in their job to decide what they want (woo PFML!). What will their employer give, how will it (working or not) impact their long term work?

Dems are not talking about cutting or trimming PFML. This is an overwhelmingly popular, critical, and productive new program for Minnesota workers and businesses.
Why is Strib Opinion framing this as accepting cuts at all, just gutless. You get to have opinions and use the bully pulpit, not turn turtle.

Nobody's out to help anyone, they're out to limit their liability. And it's a bit funny. Bc this happened to me at work too when I reported the PFML interference. I had no interest in suing them or even speaking to a lawyer; I just wanted to take my leave without being berated this time.

Thank you, Gov. When dealing with implementing this by the January 2026 date, I was skeptical about how it would work out. But during this year, I've seen about 10 employees able to benefit from the PFML program. From bonding with newborns to cancer treatment and other medical issues. Thank you.

Good to chime that in WA state, we have Paid Family & Medical Leave (PFML). Up to 12 weeks paid leave per year, threshold to qualify is pretty low; mental health status is protected in WA state.

Our state taxes pay for this, so take advantage!

As of right now, I’ve been out of work for almost 3 weeks. I haven’t gotten paid in 2 and won’t be getting on Friday.

Until worker’s comp actually happens, or PFML from the state goes through (problems with hospital paperwork) I’m broke.

I lost both shows this weekend from back pain again.

UI is one of those things where I makeup weird “if Al Gore had won” scenarios where he with a GOP House/Senate would strike a deal for PFML in exchange for eliminating experience ratings and broadening the base
