R/seizures & r/epilepsy are full of stories of folks being fired for epilepsy despite it being illegal. Some neurologists are so keen to knock folks down to a diagnosis of PNES that these folks die when they lose their meds of epileptic seizures (which are known to sometimes exist with PNES)

#personal Idk who needs to hear it but take this to be your reminder to let yourself rest ~ had a PNES stress induced seizure for the first time yesterday. If you don't rest your body will make you. Be gentle with yourself.

I got a call first thing in the morning from my gender clinic telling me my insurance expired early. And so naturally I got so fucking freaked out that it triggered my PNES I LOVE American healthcare

It’s funny earlier today I was thinking about a case where a neurologist (i think in the UK) downgraded someone to PNES (psychogenic non epileptic seizures, which arent supposed to be able to kill you) and the patient lost access to her meds and guess what happened to her. She died of a seizure

I got out of ABA/special Ed then. When I was about 10 I had a full autistic battery & among other things I was diagnosed with alexithymia & it was determined that in addition to regular seizures I also had PNES, I’m guessing from being tortured for perhaps a week in kindergarten.
