She's the adventurous person I aspire to be, and she wins because she has the right friends. And she's ditzy. I love her so much

My drive-in used to show after the main movies at midnight one of two films.. Tales from the Crypt (the Amicus one) or Mrs Polifax, Spy starring Rosalind Russell. I don't think I ever saw anything else besides those two at the late show. Age is catching up on me, the feature movies I can't remember

Yep, it's supposed to be a code name for a spy, like Dread Pirate Roberts (or at least it was reconned that way), it makes sense they'd only use it for the boy ones (could be any race tho of course). Like you said, lots of IP for female spies. Heck, do a Mrs Polifax movie

This is my favorite of the Amicus, probably because it was my first. Our Drive In Theater would often run it as the midnight movie, either this or Mrs Polifax, Spy. The Peter Cushing and Joan Collins segments were my favorite, the Richard Green, my least, though even that is still good

A friend of mine recommended THE UNEXPECTED MRS. POLIFAX by Dorothy Gilman, a series I'd somehow never heard of, despite the first book coming out in 1966. Anyway, a 60-something woman decides to become a CIA spy partially because she's bored, and somehow it works. Enjoying it so far.
For some reason I remembered a series I read years ago that I enjoyed. No gore or vulgarity, just good clean fun and mystery. The Mrs. Polifax series. Here’s a good description…
