I had to purge YAD before it would work.
sudo apt purge yad

I don't have a good answer. But I know that the official name of it. Looking up the DE reminded me why I was drawn to it. It uses the rpk package manager. Don't use apt. Ask my how I know lol. But supports SO many package types. Apt, pacstall (AUR), snap, and forgetting some. Links in next comment.
