I don't think this narrow advisory cycle lane alongside a long, straight road with a 60mph speed limit is going to encourage many people to get on their bikes.

For those of you who doubted this was actually a bike lane: they finished painting the bike symbols and yellow lines!
Southbound lane varies from 86 to 100cm from kerb to outside of lane. Northbound lane is 96cm at both ends. Distance from yellow line to inside of white line is just 40cm.

Paint is not protection.
Even on a street where drivers get 4 out of the 5 lanes (2 for driving, 2 for parking) they just gotta take that extra space from the bikelane.
In the U.S., traveling in a car is your VIP ticket to do whatever you want, no matter how to threatens others.

Paint is not infrastructure. When we rely on individual compliance instead of physical barriers, we get this. Solid design enforces the rules so we don't have to rely on people "doing the right thing".

Going to go out on a limb and suggest this worn advisory cycle lane on a 50mph road isn't going to encourage many new cyclists onto bikes.
