I’m Jamaican, I live in the UK. I approve of this message. I have no time for diaspora disagreements. I’m a Pan Africanist, I love my Black people wherever they find themselves. That’s it.

Just to be clear, I'm not saying Idi Amin was actually a Pan-Africanist in any meaningful way, i'm making the point that when someone starts doing their own ethnonationalist purges and genocides they don't suddely get a pass for being part of an historically oppressed minority.

Somers Town in Camden, North London. A former slum but now a pleasant residential area, the former home of writers and radicals (Dickens, George Padmore, Mary Wollstonecraft among others).

I suppose that is unique, yes - my minor counterpoint for my own arguement (not Nathan's) is that early Pan-Africanist ideas were supported by a lot of "Colonization societies" amongst abolitionists and post-emancipation progressives who believed the same about their own salvation

Reading the curated poems in this September issue has been a real treat. Particularly like the coverage on Pan-Africanist poetry, the surrealist work of Ted Joans🔥🍷

And of course they skip right past the bits of his work where he's anything but a pan-Africanist and how much of his exalting violence for his own sake sounds rather fascist even in context. Down to appropriating Marxian jargon while insisting the purpose of struggle is struggle.
You would not believe (you probably would actually) just how many wannabe philosophers I went to college with were preaching about Fanon like he was a god among mortals solely because he's the only one who ever said a little slaughter is good for the soul sometimes.

The great Pan-Africanist leader Kwame Nkrumah was born 117 years ago today. He was the president of Ghana, the first African nation to declare independence.

He also invited W.E.B. DuBois to spend his final years there.

Fun Fact: Zohran Kwame Mamdani was named as a homage to Kwame Nkrumah

I’m downplaying it but there’s a pan Africanist dragon empire situated somewhere in Africa and their goal is to take it over in order to create a unified front against European colonialism and slavery. Additionally the main character keeps going “ugh yeah that’s fair…. Sorry” about it lol
September 22, 2026 at 11:22 AM
I’m not actually sure if it is pan Africanist but it seems like their goal is to, at least, become sovereign over as much of it as possible to fuck up the slave trade and maybe launch their own invasion into Europe and Lawrence is like “yeah no I understand….”
