Leftists: "Vy for you blame us for consequences of our flexing our power? Counterrevolutionary lackeys of the rootless cosmopolitans!"

I mean at the end of the day there's a real argument George Bush was a nastily effective campaigner and the only one his sordid little family produced, sure. But that's more Bush being more dangerous than people think and less Gore sucking. Republicans do exist, buddy.
why does Nader have blood on his hands but not the guy in charge of a campaign with 100x his resources & the name recognition of the VP for not being able to pull the tightest of margins against a simpering chimp?

Can Dems not win elections if there are fringe candidates? Got some bad news....
October 1, 2026 at 3:24 AM
In the real world Gore did fight it for a month, then the SCOTUS did judicial Calvinball for the first term on a partisan basis. I realize y'all don't want to own that Nader made Bush and all his consequences a thing. I wouldn't want to either, but reality is what it is even when you hate it.
IMO blaming Nader for a stolen election, where the aggrieved party didn't even put up a fight, is at best, misdirected anger.
I mean even if Gore had only won New Hampshire he was right next to the electoral college victory margin without it, winning it takes him over it. So.....either way Nader still is the guy who has all that blood on his hands, and his voters, too.

We & partners sued to stop him from flushing away vast sums in housing support. Housing!

The court just SUSPENDED his illegal action while we fully brief the case

The US's most morally impressive victories in the 20th century were without a shadow of a doubt Imperial Japan, Imperial Germany, and the Third Reich (with the USSR at least somewhat being an assisted suicide).

For that matter, Ba'athist Iraq is also missing from the list.
I, uh, I can't help but notice you left out the slaver's rebellion or the Nazis on the list of people to go fight.

Funny, that.

People will appeal to say, the Vietnam War as proof of success. If they were willing to die to the tens of thousands every year for 25 years and see everything they had bombed to rubble they too could 'succeed.' But uh, good luck with that.
10/7 didn't do the trick and create a Palestinian paradise so maybe a little bit MORE terrorism is going to get it done?

Violent insurrection is one of the least effective tools for social change in history. Especially in the modern world.
September 30, 2026 at 11:39 PM
Depending on how you look at it you can argue this is correct and that Israel's existence was secured by the Great Arab Revolt of 1936-9 gutting their military power right before WWII ultimately supercharged the Yishuv.
Violent insurrection is the whole reason Israel exists

Absolutely insane, & I'm saying this as someone who has zero sympathy for Pike. They're not even giving *reasons* for blowing up a lower court's one & only chance to decide an important justiciable question because they want to execute ppl as fast as humanly possible.

Legit courts aren't like this!
SCOTUS says, without explanation, that it is fine to kill people while a legal challenge to their killing is still pending, because reasons.
BREAKING: SCOTUS’s Republican appointees will allow Tennessee to kill Christa Pike tonight, vacating a stay of execution entered by the Sixth Circuit this morning. The three Democratic appointees dissent.

Rwanda is such a clear example of the way this can just continue to escalate in alternating cycles of revenge

Unfortunately true, they may know at best some of the spillover from the Rwandan Genocide but the rest of it? No. And even then the two or three factions not counting Cony's Lord's Resistance Army make things still more convoluted.
*excluding Africans and Black diaspora*, i am fairly certain that less than 5% of the people online, left-wing or right-wing, who invoke the violence in Congo when talking about Israel, could explain even the basics of what side is fighting what side

Iran: "America has so many prisoners (complimentary)"
The Iranian letter to America is a very good piece of propaganda—certainly better than anything e.g. Russia is capable of producing right now—but there’s still a few points where the mask accidentally slips

Same thing with Reagan and *his* one phone call, which did nothing to stop or slow down Ariel Sharon evolving from his Unit 101 days to 'gee I didn't know nuffin' about what my pet Nazis did to those two camps, how is that my fault.'
I mean the whole idea here was that Biden could have stopped Israel from doing horrible things by threatening military supplies, & the fact that *he did do that* & it did not have the predicted effects is just completely ignored.

"Places other than the US [and sometimes Russia and China] have agency" continues to be something vanishingly few people either in the US or outside of it understand.

This isn't how the Cold War worked, it's certainly not how things work now.
In general there is an inability to recognize that parties to the Gaza war had agency & acted on it. One of the things the Atlantic article makes clear is that Hamas kept backing out of ceasefire agreements because Sinwar believed prolonging the war would drive a wedge in the US/Israeli alliance.
A thing that was very clear at the time is that while it’s true that the United States has a lot of leverage, Israel is a sovereign nation with its own politics, and Netanyahu was, in addition to leading a coalition of aspiring genocidaires, literally going to go prison if the war stopped

There are more images & videos, but they're pretty gruesome and terrifying.

Honestly the really damning part is so many people who made Gaza a substitute for their lack of a personality are quite gleeful that Black children are dying of AIDS because they are, after all, not Palestinians.
Still kind of inconceivable how many people died or will die because of the death of USAID. And the world’s richest man did it almost as a joke
