They aren’t going to get student loans, and the republicans are trying to get rid of the ParentPlus loans too…. Fuck around and find out.

I suppose no Department of Education means there is no educational institution therefore no debt could exist within an institution that doesn’t exist.
I have ParentPlus loans through a non-existent Dept.
Ipso facto no debt ever existed.
Contract was on my desk.
No contract was ever on my desk.
This is as good an example of our new reality as you can find. We now live in a "heads we win and tails you lose political reality. Also white is now black, left is right and down is up.

Thank you Fox News, Newt and Mitch McConnell.

My kid accepted her offer at MassArt!

Now who can tell me about ParentPlus loans or what you did when you only qualified for a small amount of student loans?

My son got a full ride to a college in Boston but I was expected to cover room and board which in Boston is a LOT. ParentPlus loan only covers on campus housing which he didn’t win the campus lottery for. Luckily my inability to pay for this led to him moving with us to Canada. Messed up system.

Thank you. I’m in the same boat (ParentPLUS).

Nothing here about the massive impacts to student loans…unrealistic borrowing caps…sweeping changes to repayment plans…etc…effectively creating a system of affordability access to med/dental school for the wealthy…forcing others into predatory private lending sector, ParentPLUS screwed too.

My 120k for the kids (ParentPlus loans) was forgiven via public service loan forgiveness like a week before he tried to shut down the Dept. of Education. Like when Lando on the Millennium Falcon escapes the 2nd Death Star. Yeee--HAAAAA!

Interesting ...

Since I have been paying for my undergrad, my masters and my youngest's first 3 years of undergrad for years now...

(Two of those not eligible for Biden's relief - post-grad and ParentPlus)

It would be amusing if🍊🍕💩 inadvertently disrupted the system ....
What happens to student loans if Trump dismantles Education Department

Borrowers are wondering what will happen to their loans and repayment plans if President Trump closes the Department of Education.

Privilege will get worse with student loan changes thanks to big beautiful bill—unrealistic government loan borrowing caps now for med/dental/law schools, lifetime caps on (and PSLF is) eliminated for ParentPLUS, elimination of GradPLUS…all gifts to predatory private lenders..screw the middle-class

I took out 2 parentplus loans to cover Joi's first 2 yrs. I now have twice the amount in parentplus loans for 2 years than I did for 5 years total at ub. They are u subsidized so the interest is already accumulating. But in the end, I know it will be worthwhile ☺️🤞

That $40k wiped away? Could mean $7k–$12k in taxes. 🫠

2/ The GradPLUS elimination and ParentPLUS caps aren't likely to impact cash-cow Masters degree enrollments this Fall (existing borrowers are grandfathered in) but going forward it's looking very ugly.

Institutions should be planning *now* for program sustainability & lower pricing.

No doubt…and rate schedules for exchange programs hitting open enrollment this fall…and wait until student loans borrowers, ParentPLUS, and prospective med and dental students are looking at when the see the unrealistic caps just put in place on govt issued student loans…absolute gift to pvt loans.

I have at least 5 more years to qualify a ParentPlus loan for PSLF. Already qualified on my grad school loans. If the current administration succeeds in demolishing the DoE, not sure what that does to PSLF. Keeping an eye on it; if they dismantle the program, I will likely default, as will others.

I have three daughters. Two graduated from public university with zero debt. My third will be in debt when she graduates from a private school. She wanted to attend a public school but they wanted me to take out a 32K "ParentPlus" loan. I'm too old to do that so she ended up at the private school.

Could capping ParentPLUS loans force colleges to decrease tuition rates and lower student debt? Or would it make college less affordable and loan repayment harder for mostly Black and Latino parents? GOP lawmakers and advocacy advocates disagree on the outcome www.insidehighered.com/news/student...
Advocates Say Parent PLUS Caps Will Reduce College Access
The loans are disproportionately utilized by Black and Latino families and the families of students at HBCUs, and advocates worry the limits will hinder access to college.

4TFTD:

1) I incorrectly thought that GenX and Millennials would be less racist.

2) Why don't people vote like their lives depend on it? Eligible voters are STILL sitting home.

3) Read the serving sizes then multiply. We're killing ourselves.😟

4) ParentPlus rule changes right when AI takes jobs.🤔
