#Patriotism
quite the nerve to be a cabinet department making posts demonizing some of your citizens and to criticize *those citizens* for lacking patriotism. what does patriotism mean, again?
If you're complaining that your history professor doesn't display "any sense of patriotism," you're telling me you don't understand in the slightest what the field of history is actually all about.

A reminder that the Department of Education is now run by a rich hack who came from pro wrestling.

Trump’s conception of American patriotism is loyalty to people like him. Everything else is dangerous. Be dangerous.

Exactly! I am not moved by patriotism or any of its symbology, but for crying out loud, nationalists - these are YOUR OWN RULES. How can you not familiarise yourself with any of it?

This is Lord Rothermere the owner of the Daily Mail.

He lives in a massive mansion in the English countryside, but he pays no tax here because he identifies as French.

While the Daily Mail is registered in Bermuda and pays no tax anywhere.

That is his ‘Patriotism’.

I love this message & think most of us understand that we’ve got to lean into the people, networks, & communities supportive of liberation.

Tbh this is why I support moving away from the restrictive & radicalized language of patriotism & towards one of solidarity.
DNC Black Caucus Chair: “MI Democrats are proud to stand behind Abdul El-Sayed as our nominee for U.S. Senate and in two days we will elect him to serve us in Washington.

We are dismayed that Haley Stevens has revealed herself to be a sellout who used Black Michiganders for a political stunt.”

We shouldn't have to rely on midterms to save the country. Republican lawmakers should have had the patriotism and basic common sense to stop a compromised asset from destroying America from within a long time ago.

Making religion and patriotism mandatory by law is wack
There are 23 seats on this year's ballot in my county in Alabama where the Republican candidate is running unopposed. (And surprisingly ONE Dem candidate unopposed)

And there are only 4 amendments up for vote, and these are two of them.

People my age grew up with a fervent patriotism, a patriotism that drove us to oppose the Vietnam War because we knew it didn’t align with what we had learned about America. We were branded as unpatriotic for the next 50 years and watched as the “patriots” steadily dismantle our Democracy.
