I used plastic bead organizers from Michaels for the bobbins, all in numerical DMC # order, PatternKeeper on my tablet for the actual pattern (which I made myself with PatternMaker for Windows), then my husband built me a custom PVC fabric stand that took up an entire loveseat.

If anything the Met Gala makes the rich people and celebrities who attend look foolish and shallow and vain. And yes incredible skill is on display—a patternmaker friend of mine figured out a floating trouser waist and shoulders for someone. It can also be dumb fun for onlookers. All these things.

My grandpa was a patternmaker back in the day for the auto industry -- his shop would take blueprints and make mahogany models, with 1/32" tolerance, to be handed off to the foundry which would use them to make molds for auto parts. It was very cool and VERY futzy

Both my parents worked in a factory building cranes, I assume he was decent with tools, but was a functional alcoholic so perhaps not. I do come from a line of good tool users on the other side, my mom was great with power tools as was my grandpa (who was a patternmaker)
