Primetime e novo filme de Paul Thomas Anderson são confirmados na 50ª Mostra SP

The review discusses Paul Thomas Anderson's concert film 'Cameron Winter At Carnegie Hall', which had its UK premiere at the London Film Festival on October 8, 2026. The film documents a solo performance by Cameron Winter, frontman of the band The Geese, recorded on December 11, 2025 at Carnegie Hall in New York. Shot on 35mm film, the concert film offers an intimate perspective, positioning the audience as if they're sitting next to Winter at his piano. Winter performs a 12-song set with minimal dialogue, focusing on his textured vocals and emotional depth. The review compares the film to classic concert movies like 'Stop Making Sense' and 'The Last Waltz', noting its unique approach that emphasizes the quiet intensity of Winter's performance rather than rock 'n' roll energy. Anderson's direction includes innovative cinematography with perspectives from high angles and tight close-ups, featuring actor-director Benny Safdie as one of the cinematographers. The film's runtime of 70 minutes covers songs including 'Drinking Age', '$0', and 'The Rolling Stones', with Winter returning for a one-song encore after the credits. The review highlights Winter's resemblance to Radiohead's Jonny Greenwood and his exploration of themes of mortality and mental chaos through his music. The film is set for release in 2027 via MUBI, marking Anderson's first work since his Oscar-winning 'One Battle After Another'.

The beauty, intimacy and energy of Cameron Winter at Carnegie Hall confirm the generational skills of Winter and director Paul Thomas Anderson.

The film will debut at the 64th New York Film Festival (September 25–October 12) and the 70th BFI London Film Festival (October 7–18). MUBI has acquired global rights (excluding North America), set to stream it in 2027, while Janus Films and Criterion will handle its North American release. The film, shot on 35mm and 16mm, documents Winter's December 2025 solo show at Carnegie Hall’s Isaac Stern Auditorium following his sold-out Geese tour. It will also screen in cinemas across North America later this year, with tickets available from September 17. A live album titled 'Live At Carnegie Hall' is set for release on October 9 via Partisan Records and Play It Again Sam, produced by Ariel Rechtshaid. Anderson’s work follows his previous music video collaborations and his Oscar-winning film 'One Battle After Another'. The article highlights Winter's growing reputation as a musical prodigy, with recent accolades from NME for his live performances and albums.
