In 2012 indie tabletop RPGs were just entering the PbtA boom, and there were a few other influential indie titles floating around as well. We were right at the start of the Kickstarter wave too, so we got a whole load of cool and interesting stuff through the first half of the 2010s.

For your PbtA, maybe have Affection, Sex, Commitment, and maybe Rivalry? Maybe each playbook has a move that can impact each, to represent how they flirt, hang out, and compete with each other? I dunno. PbtA isn't my thing, so I'm just spitballin, lol.

Stonetop does a great job explaining all the concepts of play, including fictional positioning. I often feel many PbtA games do a better job at dungeon master advice than your typical OSR game. This is a clear set of examples on how you might adjudicate a situation.

How about a play rule though?
Oh for goodness sake, I see and remember now that this is a Firebrands game, not a more traditional ttrpg at all. This is how my game shelf is now, it's all PbtA, Firebrands, NSR, FitD, solitaire/journaling games, and one-off story-games.
To the upstairs shelf.

How about a play rule though?

Not done a PbtA teen game (PbtA is not my table's jam) but we have had multiple teen games over the years, mostly superheroes via Champions. These included romance, rivals, etc. I even made class schedules for one. Very Teen Titans/Young X-Men. I say do it, but I couldn't recommend a start point. 🤞

one of the things I definitely wanna get made is a good PBtA set of rules for Star Trek; I appreciate a lot of the design choices Modiphus made for STA, but I feel a lot of things are needlessly overcomplex and could be streamlined by adapting the bits I like into a PBtA set of rules

PbtA: You're moving the heavy TV stand after a day of mentally & physically taxing work. Sounds like this is a Physical Struggle, roll +STR...a 2. You absolutely do that, only for the base of the stand to shatter at the last second destroying it & the TV. Take 1 Harm.

Was frustrates me most about the way people talk about Flying Circus is the idea people have that PbTA games can't be crunchy. You can like whatever you like but at a certain point it feels like being incurious to write off a game because it breaks a pattern or trend you subscribe to
