This is my favorite tool for visualizing pedigree collapse, @melrootsnwrites.bsky.social! #genealogy #pedigreeCollapse #endogamy

Brain will not compute.

3C 3R = Great Grandmother of husband of 1C of wife of Great Nephew

KC3 has a wreath for a family tree. #PedigreeCollapse occurs when related individuals marry; causing a family tree to loop back on itself rather than doubling every generation.

For #52Ancestors this week it will just be a very short post.

The topic is Challenge and for me this is a word that could be repeated hourly when trying to unpick my DNA matches whose ancestors have also stayed in and around South East Kent for generations. #Intermingling #PedigreeCollapse

I finally caught up on rebuilding my partner's family tree, and was so excited to rebuild mine 🤣 that's until I remembered I'm Cajun Creole and have pedigree collapse upon pedigree collapse to deal with all over again 😅

Me, every time I'm researching one of the Kentucky branches of my family: Oh FFS you don't have to keep marrying within the same 5 families!!
#genealogy #endogamy #pedigreecollapse

Finally realised that although my parents were not closely related the farming families of South East Kent have been friendly down the generations and have significant #PedigreeCollapse.

With that comprehension it is still confusing but understand much more now that related several ways to some.

Really need to use ALL the information available as their 3x Great Grandfather is the person who left Kent for Canada so the connection is much further back.

As yet not actually established as think it may be two to three different ancestral groups combined. #PedigreeCollapse

#PedigreeCollapse is one reason why they are ugly as hell. #Pedrew is the only son who looks nothing like his brothers. As for the three loops, it was astounding. Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon was NOT included in the bloodline. She married into that family. Alice Keppel, mistress of King Edward VII.

Of interest to those with #endogamy, #pedigreecollapse, #cousinmarriages.
