iirc the best "open" competitor was penpot but frankly figma succeeded because they were unwilling to cut corners like everyone else (figuratively and literally)

openpencil is mid, pen is paid (but otherwise reasonably featured) and not OSS, penpot is the other decent option but it has been slow at times historically, uhh what else. doop.

Procreate Pocket & Paint X are both drawing apps, and it looks like Penpot is for interface design (I think? I liked that it’s open source, but their website isn’t up, & they’re not on the App Store, so…)

Scribus is...Well if you're doing print posters, its okay? Clunky UI and high learning curve.
These are all offline options as, well, tbh, I'm still looking at some of the online ones but my hopes aren't very high.
(Also penpot is more a UI tool, and is very proud of becoming genAI "friendly")

Testei com o Eclipse Theia e Opencode no caso, ainda falta ver se entende bem o MCP do Penpot pro teste que tô fazendo.
Só pra deixar claro, eu não gosto de IA, nunca usaria pra algo artístico, mas pra programação que é meu emprego preciso aprender e investigar.
