Hugging the vegetation in our greenbelt was this Rambur’s Forktail. The dragonflies were patrolling intensely, she was probably hiding from the predators.

Downy woodpecker on the greenbelt. These incredible birds peck at 30 times per second up to 1500 g’s of impact! They create homes for burrowing animals and clean trees. Their pecking sound also attracts mates.

Our greenbelt here in Katy, Texas has a number of trees that are at the end of their life. Due to severe storms, ice, and drought we have had a lot of them damaged. Mushrooms are popping out here.

When we toured the Caribbean several types of birds stood out: chickens and doves! Everywhere we went there were both. This rock dove was one-of-a-kind for our experience. Pentax KF with Pentax 55-300PLM at 147mm. ISO 1000 for 1/250 at f9. EV -1. Side note: I set the EV due to the brilliant plumage. Interestingly, going -1 F stop helped more than it hurt with bright flowers and wildlife against neutral conditions colors!
