HR rebranding as PeopleOps.
This is sort of a parallel finding to my work on 4profit colleges. Universities got cute with all of our services: enrollment and bursar versus admissions and cashier, for instance.

People did not have the facility to know who to call for what need so…they did not call.

Back when Google was still somewhat decent, a local PeopleOps (HR) person did something truly excellent related to MH. I posted about it on internal G+ praising her. Somehow Laszlo Bock, the head of PeopleOps, heard about and reached down through 3 or 4 layers of hierarchy to praise her.

You always know you're in for a treat when your tech company has its HR department renamed to something Orwellian like People Experience (abbreviated as PX), PeopleOps, or just The People Team (I've worked at companies with all of these) because in the end HR is always HR and HR never on your side.

It should be the architecture of any staffing company.

So why do most treat “community” like an afterthought?

In this convo, we get real about what’s broken—and how to fix it:

The way organizations assess people is stuck in the resume era.
