hearing about the phd thesis fraud by mike israetel of renaissance periodization is both disappointing and very unsurprising given the state of academia and exercise science, but also it's wildly funny that pghrt.diy is held to a higher level of scholarship and rigor.

i do expect at the rate of things the 2020s will end with the concept of the "lgbtq community" being considered a specific 1990s - 2010s periodization that will break apart and be reformed and superseded by something else

'classic rock' refers to a specific periodization of rock, it doesnt just mean 'old rock', my chemical romance is dad rock or oldie rock, not classic rock

Ok, you find it funny or interesting why some centuries are "long" and others are "short" and why do historians use terms like "the Middle Ages" or "the Renaissance" but get cross about it all the time? And keep forbidding things like "the Dark Ages"? Isn't it weird?
