The reason why we’re able to talk about Tlatelolco today, is all thanks to the photojournalists who risked their lives. Journalists who risked their lives also took the story and published articles and testimonies.

Brave people exist, and they change the course of history.

CBS 21 News team takes home 2026 Mid-Atlantic Regional Emmy Award
The CBS 21 News team took home some hardware on Saturday night during the 2026 Mid-Atlantic Regional Emmy Awards in Philadelphia. CBS 21 was awarded the Emmy for smaller market evening newscast for its coverage of the funeral of three fallen Northern York County Regional Police officers. This included recognition for anchors Candace Scalese and Joel D. Smith; photojournalists Michael Collins, Ashley Crowther and Jonathan Gutenkunst; reporters Sarah Burns, Grace Rufalo, Maxine Rose and Alex Thill; directors Megan Carpenter and Daniel Kilderry; and content producer Austin Winkler. Joel D. Smith was also awarded an Emmy for best news anchor. CBS 21 was nominated in four other categories, including:

Photojournalists have historically gotten in a LOT of trouble for editing photos. To pick one notorious example, a magazine cover darkened OJ Simpson’s skin in his mugshot. IIRC, at least one agency requires photographers to not shoot in raw to reduce the editing done later in the pipeline.
