The tabletop (aka physical games), books, comics and soundtracks categories on itchio now require completing an AI disclosure in order to edit or create your page. These join the game assets section which has required disclosure for the past 2 years.

Data centers are a tangible, physical point of attack for AI backlash. A lot of people are afraid of job losses and uncertainty
Donald Trump took a major hit in the US midterms. But the tech industry may prove to be an even bigger loser.

Across the country, electoral races were won and lost based on where candidates stood on data centers. The public was clear: they want moratoriums and for AI ambitions to be reined in.
US midterms delivered a blow to tech’s AI ambitions
Communities are determined to stop the data centers. Now we’ll see how the industry responds.

Seeing people who love physical media and are the physical media warriors also having pro AI chuds in the tent is jarring as hell because it's like are you fucking stupid you're yelling at Sony for removing a disk drive in the Playstation but you think we should burn down the library for Claude

like, my brother: that is an AI generated image. It was literally hallucinated by a computer. The physical product does not exist.

With big companies collectively sh*tting themselves about AI copying THEIR products; I wonder how close we at to having proper, physical copies of games back on the shelves?

Complete with old-school DRM?

Most of the AI slop I get fed on Instagram has become at least marginally competent, so it’s kind of refreshing to see some good old-fashioned unfamiliarity with the physical laws of the universe again

Despite his studio being severely hit by current games industry challenges, Doom creator John Romero is still "super optimistic" about everything.

We speak to the storied game designer about how his studio and new FPS project are doing, and chat about genAI, physical media, and staying positive.

All I can really hope in this scenario is that we can harness AI search+ streamin backlash into investment in libraries & physical media & stuff.
What Google lacks, though, is a certain market penetration. Yes, they're everywhere, but people can just drop them. No hardware lock-in, no licenses for consumers... People can just leave. And they're starting to because there's little difference between them and the competition anymore.

I had my annual physical earlier this year and the doctor's AI-generated visit notes had multiple errors about the answers I gave, my family health history, and not one but two hallucinated mentions of "gynecology visits" that obviously never happened. Shit's outrageous.

You can even believe that AI will produce benefits while recognizing that its misuse can — and will — expose people to forms of harm our existing systems are poorly equipped to address. We struggle already to mitigate physical harms; what chance do we have against an entirely new class of predation?

In an age where AI can create an image of everything and anything, verifying the truth is becoming much harder.
Seeing is no longer believing: why physical witnesses matter more in the age of AI-generated content

Every time I see AI food pictures on their flyers, Facebook, websites, physical menus, AND EVEN BILLBOARDS… 🤢 🤮
I genuinely believe that people who are currently using AI slop to market their business are going to look back at this and cringe/be ashamed of what they put out.

Double standards suck, but those of us who do any kind of work in the physical art realm have got to be better about making sure we don’t spread AI images.

I say that all physical making is a beautiful thing in the age of AI 🧶💕
