I agree. It is still surprising that, despite inflation, Brexit, and high duties, an ordinary bottle of wine that does not induce a hangover costs more than a tenner, including Picpoul, Muscadet’s successor as the clichéd house wine in a restaurant. Will Verdicchio be the new standard white plonk?

I agree. It is still surprising that, despite inflation, Brexit, and high duties, an ordinary bottle of wine that does not induce a hangover costs more than a tenner, including Picpoul, Muscadet’s successor as the clichéd house wine in a restaurant. Will Verdicchio be the new standard white plonk?

1) Chablis,
2) Alsace Riesling
3) Picpoul de Pinet.
It is so GOOD to have some more options. And slightly cheaper ones 😬

Si vous êtes à Sète et que vous cherchez de bons fruits de mer, je recommande "Les Coquillages d'Oc" aux Halles.
On se régale de gambas aussi grosses que savoureuses, d'huîtres, de moules marinées, le tout arrosé d'un bon petit picpoul de Pinet.
L'équipe est très sympa, les prix très raisonnables.

It's sad that we've all got so weird about oysters. They're cheaper than steak, even if you have 6. Which, btw is completely normal. And I detest Farage as much as the next person. I want him in jail. Here in France, oysters aren't posh. You eat them in markets with ice cold Picpoul and pure joy
