As a former Excel pro I’d say that DAX essentially allows you to write complex logic formulas within the equivalent of pivottables, and can be programmed to respond to (or ignore) changes to that pt structure that users make to better explore data
And these pts/DAX can be directly reused elsewhere.

The eventual fix involved two synced PivotTables and a dynamic array HSTACK formula to combine them into one clean chart source data range. 🤝 It may not have been the prettiest solution...
