#Place-Names
I love how Trump believes he has the power to change common terms and place names. He doesn't. Corrupt tech Billionaires will kowtow, but normal people will never adopt his ridiculous language decrees.

Right, here’s the plan: a bunch of us are gonna check into the hotel under assumed names. In the dead of the night, we’ll all sneak into the place where the statues are; 1 will be the lookout; 2 will create a diversion if needed; and 3-4 will carry them into the van. Any questions? Who’s all in?

It's amazing where you can find chickweed if you look. Thriving at the top of an old tree trunk! A good place to disperse seeds I suppose.

It's the big sort that goes all angular when it seeds. I should probably learn the proper names at some point. 😅

And just like that the pair have temporary names to call one another 💙😍

(Also thank you to everyone who has been playing with me! I absolutely love snips and really enjoy reading things out of context, I like the little zap of questions I get all at once reading y’all’s works.)

Stop calling them the Cornell Seven!

Those men were guilty. Names of the form "${place} ${number}" refer strictly to *innocent* people (e.g. Guildford Four, Birmingham Six).

So tonight I was dropping off a rider and found myself on Dolenz Rd, right off Tork Place, which was near the intersection of Tyler & Perry Aves.

See, 40 yrs ago I helped a bandmate who was an architect with his design for a housing development.

I came up with street names.

Hm. Cockermouth is definitely not in Scotland, and Penistone is definitely not in Lancashire… Still funny looking place names though!
Not pictured: The Dicker and Lower Dicker, Essex.

The United Kingdom is not a serious country. At all. 😆

I met "Mescalito" when I was a Child ON 7 Peyote Buttons.

When I told this story in Mexico I got an Invite to THE the NATIVE Area that IS the Peyote place.

I got where to go, Names to Drop, and then a Truck would collect me to take me to the Reservation

I was too Scared to go.

Started a character list and redid old pick lists of character names and place names I amassed.

Making a loose outline now which involves evaluating old brain dumps for inclusion.

I have a lot of loose stuff I'm trying to organize so I can access it better. Not subbing busy work for writing! 🤫

We all played Peabody's in previous bands, lol; my guess is that they piled so many bands through the doors that they barely even looked at the names. They would've misspelled ours without a doubt.
Kinda miss the place, even tho' it always smelled like puke.

Search up if you can "Auto Shenanigans" and "Rude Place Names". Jon has done two videos on the subject. We have them by the bucket load and then some over here.

Was thinking the other day about how we don't have any indigenous place names where I grew up in Newfoundland. Then I remembered that my settler ancestors wiped out the island's indigenous people, the Beothuk, through a combination of intentional murder, disease, and displacement from...

It pisses me off how monolingual english speakers give exotic names to things that could be translated properly. Like if i didnt know chinese then i wouldve been like wow "speaking bitterness" what a profound practice! When it's just. 诉苦, which 'speaking' does not justly translate in the first place
