This thing is such a henge of a watch. I love it.

Over engineered and looks like it would survive a bomb explosion from 3 feet away.

Plus this version is titanium so it is both light and strong.

An omega seamaster ploprof with a titanium case, grey ceramic bezel, and titanium beads of rice bracelet. It has a big orange button to release the bezel for adjustment. The crown guard covers the crown and must be unscrewed to adjust the watch

Not sure how rare they are, noticed a couple that have come up at auction for under £5, which when you think a mint 70s Ploprof sometimes goes for 5 figures is a bit of a steal.

I’ve got a soft spot for late 60s/early 70s big case Omegas, I love my Seamaster Memo.

Me tryna explain to friends the difference between the Tuna Can and the Helium Release Valve model of deep sea saturation dive watches and the two watches under discussion, Yani's 4000 door Omega Seamaster, and the Seiko Tuna Can

Neither pretty but Tuna Can is ugly no matter how you dress it up
Omega Seamaster PloProf 1200 m / 4000 feet Seiko Tuna Can with bronze outer casing and steel bracelet 1000 metres in 1968, Seiko received a letter from a saturation diver from Kure City, in Hiroshima prefecture. In that letter, he complained that Seiko Divers watches often filled with helium and lost their crystals in saturated environments. A group of engineers from Seiko, who read this letter with great interest, realized the problem and Ikuo Tokunaga and his team started to develop this new watch in 1968, from scratch, which took them seven years. 03:16✓✓✓✓ The key difference between the Tuna Can and any other deep sea diver watch, is all the other watches from Rolex, Omega etc, let helium into the case and then have a valve that dissipates the helium as the diver rises. That's the orange thing on the right of the Omega, it lets the divers breathing gas helium out 03:17✓✓✓✓ But the Tuna Can doesn't let the helium in to start with. That outer case clamps so tight over the inner case as to reduce by 99% the helium ingress. So no need for a valve into the main watch body. There is a helium release valve but it's only between the Tuna Can outer case and the main watch 03:19✓✓✓✓ Deep sea divers go down in a diving bell which pressures up the divers body and the watch with a partial helium air mix depending depth so the result is a breathable partial-pressure for the diver. Because of the size of helium molecules the watch preferentially leaks to admit helium and not the helium air mix. The diver can exhale and gradually surface but the helium remains trapped in the watch as it rises until lower air pressure causes the watch to explode. Rolex and Omega equalise pressure inside the watch and have a release valve. Seiko seals the watch so the helium never enters and the watch remains at surface air pressure within

Estou meio obcecado com o Omega Ploprof, um dos relógios mais esquisitos e absurdos já projetados. No momento "quem sabe um dia adquirir um" é minha principal motivação para exercer atividade remunerada (e para malhar braço, senão talvez fique muito desproporcional)
