i mean. i will be perfectly honest. i look askance at a kind of christianity which is more friendly to plotinus than it is to scripture. but the relevant thing here is that kahane is simply wrong. he thinks, in the final analysis, that the only book that counts is joshua.

Hard to tell, but I suspect that the tangible element is non-accidental. Perhaps, because unlike vision, touch is not a distal sense and so conveys an intimate unity. (Think of Plotinus "touching" the One.)

Jung’s contribution was so massive and significant because, as far as I was then aware, no one since Plotinus (3rd CE) and Marsilio Ficino in Renaissance Italy had explored the soul as a living cosmic entity rather than an abstract concept.~Anne Baring, The Dream of the Cosmos

Reading an introduction to Greek philosophy I came across #Plotinus. At the time I was involved with #Greenpeace and the issue of drift netting was in the news. #surrealism #poetry @blueskypoetry.bsky.social

Beautiful bit of science: everything is ultimately affected by everything else
Most of us, me certainly included, are big fans of oneness. Heck, I wrote a lengthy book called Return to the One that described the teachings of Plotinus, a 3rd century Greek mystic philosopher. And ...

There is a particular kind of tiredness that comes from wanting things you have decided you should not want. You have a good evening, a decent meal, company you love, and afterwards you sit with the strange flatness of having wanted it to last…

The Ladder and the Light
Plotinus left fifty-four unarranged treatises; his student Porphyry made them a book. On a philosophy that maps the soul's climb from virtue to the One.

💬 Knowledge has three degrees: opinion, science, illumination. The means or instrument of the first is sense; of the second, dialectic; of the third, intuition.

What if everything in existence comes from One Source?
Plotinus taught that all reality flows from a single, unnameable principle, and that the many were never truly separate from the One.
Perhaps wisdom begins when we ask what unites the parts.

We worship The Mother & Sri Aurobindo as the one Supreme Divine, but they aren't beyond scholarly scrutiny. Intellectual genealogy of Sri Aurobindo for instance extends from Homer, Heraclitus, and Plotinus to Mathew Arnold, Max Théon, and Nietzsche. So respect for West is a must. #TusarNathMohapatra

Is there a hidden system beneath Kierkegaard's existential dialectic? 🤔

In the first detailed comparison of the two thinkers, Siobhan Marie Doyle finds echoes of Plotinus in Kierkegaard's path to absolute love.
