Recently learnt that a shrub growing close to home exists nowhere else on earth! It's the Sublime Point pomaderris (Pomaderris adnata). Buds photo from early July; flowers this week. Brilliant work underway (info signs, seed banks, ex-situ plant-raising) to save it from extinction. #ozplants #wildoz

Been a lot of challenges in my personal life that's pushed me under a rock over the last year and I'm finally starting to feel like I can start crawling back out. So here's a few picks of another bunch of wonderful plants I'm working on.

150 plants left in the wild. 40 to be removed with a fire break 🤔
There are just 150 of these creamy-flowered shrubs left in the world – and a Victorian fire break could destroy dozens

Can't believe summer's already not too far off. A spring highlight was those few weeks that the Lemon dogwood (Pomaderris intermedia) were in flower on Black Mountain.

Someone in the tas FB gardening group is fanatical about mulching plants with dogwood (pomaderris apetala) clippings. We're growing them as a windbreak so this year I collected and roughly chopped the clippings and mulched this veg bed. Have to say the plants are looking lush!

A few species I work on are very rare localised endemics numbering a few thousand. The marble daisy-bush grows on Silurian limestone and marble outcrops near the Nunniong plateau in East Gippsland, Vic. Grevillea iaspicula is only found around caves in Devonian limestone karst in at Wee Jasper, NSW.

Grevillea, Olearia and Acacia. Possibly Pomaderris but germination has been tricky.

It's a shrub so rare that recent estimates suggest just 150 to 250 remain in the wild. Consequently, the discovery of a plan by DEECA to clear a fuel break at one of the remaining sites where the round-leaf pomaderris grows has caused an uproar.

2. Found on a single outcrop of limestone in eastern Victoria (East Gippsland), Australia. The outcrop is north facing and hot but the role of soil here is undeniable. The community is distinct and dominated by Limestone Pomaderris (Pomaderris oraria ssp calcicola) another rare endemic.
