context. sentiment. inferences. People seriously cannot do these things anymore. That’s why they angrily demand you spell out every joke, every reference, super duper promise you mean something only this one prescribed way. They cannot do it for themselves or tolerate the any ambiguity.
The literacy crisis is not just referring to people's ability to literally read and write. It's also people's inability to read for context.

This is the problem with the entire positivist pundit group, they see everything as discrete policy issues with merits and demerits that can be tallied up, we can take some of this, and reject some of that. That's now what we are dealing with.
you should read david’s thread for a thorough dismantling of this article. i will only add that it is very disappointing, although not altogether surprising, to see some progressives treat trump’s war on DEI as a legitimate policy difference and not as an explicit effort to resegregate the workforce

Yeah seeing RFK Jnr do his whole thing is activating my most basic intolerant logical positivist attitudes. These people are getting others killed en masse in the name of sheer nonsense.
One consequence of tolerating pseudoscience is that people die when its legitimatization becomes baked into our culture, health care systems, and institutions.

Most slop is still human slop. AI just made it impossible to ignore. So, the Q isn't whether to use AI, but how to use the best tools available to reduce human slop.
