I'm messing around with Jawset Postshot a little bit on my trip to turn videos into Gaussian Splats by remotely logging into my computer and rendering it out.
Pretty good results so far! I wanna do more and learn how to use the software better.

Gaussian splat of my cat who thankfully didn't move. In case anyone ever looks at these the previous gaussian splats were done with the scaniverse app for iOS on my phone. This one however was done with Postshot on the PC which is more powerful with better reconstruction.

I've been playing with Jawset PostShot a little bit recently to make splat renders of videos I've been shooting, but I had the idea to use it with Halo 3's Theater Mode. The results are pretty great.

Here's a test asset build I put together from a dataset I captured with my friend Justin Bastien. I pre processed the datain Reality Capture and then moved it into Jawset's Postshot to train a 3d gaussian splat. Very happy with the result. #postshot #3dgaussian #splatting #vfx #epic #unreal

The biggest challenge I had was trying to color match images taken on four different sensors at different times of day, which gsplat's bilateral grid feature does a very good job of handling. Pictured is an early failure from PostShot.

I always like the way gaussian splats train in the beginning. It's like focusing on something in a dream and then it resolves into reality.

So because PostShot insists on the paid license not being able to read the save from when I was experimenting with the free license, I am rebuilding and retraining the gaussian splat that was also recorded.
Once finished, I will publish this on @resonite.com for others to enjoy!
