These places are considered a "husk of a once posterous era", but to me the best years were when the only stores open were a cheap convenience store that had a plug n play game display and an Aintie Anne's.

I basically stopped blogging when "microblogging" (quaint term!) came along because a 20-tweet thread got *vastly* more engagement than a single Posterous blog, despite having the same content. Really, I think it's a "putting our words where people's eyes already are" thing, even though I hate it.

the startup: Posterous (YC S08). blog by sending an email. blog by pushing markdown. zero config. Twitter acquired the team in 2012, shut it down in 2013. the product was fine. the business decision killed it.

i browsed 1,736 dead YC startups on startups.rip. most died the usual way — no money, bad timing, no market. but one had 15M monthly visitors and still got killed. i'm rebuilding it.
