#Postprocessing
Not disagreeing, but our brains are similar in the sense that their windowless room is the skull, dependent wholly on the sensory input provided by nerves. And even then we don't experience the world unfiltered! So much postprocessing happens before that input becomes consciously available.

According to the quoted email from Nikon spokesperson, AI was used for "postprocessing". However, I wonder how this lines up with this recent post on LinkedIn, which finds AI watermarks from Google AI generators. I checked this myself, and Gemini reports a watermark.

A little experiment with postprocessing on *baked* lightmaps in Godot (they're just textures after all!). If you snatch the internal lightmap data and do some arcane SubViewport shenanigans, you can also use it to do *spatialized* effects on the lightmap too.

so just full "show me the dry ass model and only the model, if theres any postprocessing on it ill eat ur dog"

lol yeah. I'm actually in unreal but I'm doing some shader stuff where I need to map arbitrarily-large values into something displayable, separate from the engine's postprocessing

Next steps:

- Port it to Webgpu once the portal feature is ported to use TSL
- I want to make a transition when clicking one of the portals to the actual scene (There are some limitations with postprocessing atm)

What should I add to this demo? Let me know. Hope you like it 😊

so i've been rolling some things around in my head lately which are all related to this, and which may result in one or more generators.

(1) cellular automata for postprocessing
rooms are placed, and then after the fact they are ornamented with CA

I struggled w/ the assignment until I decided to go all in on every texture, line, & linear juxtaposition in sight! Lines, lines, lines, all under a glowing sunrise. (Steps outlined in Alt-Txt.)

I'll try that. :) Moons illuminate landscapes.

If you ever want to talk Milky way photos or postprocessing, let me know. I'm still refining my methods.

it varies- for the generator i just did, that's exactly it. i did some light postprocessing on top of it and basically tried to mess with it as little as possible.

other times it's used as ornamentation on top of some other process, to shape specific regions, running live in a game...

the current rendergraph stuff for the postprocessing stack is also, to put it mildly, labyrinthine. i get why it's gotta be this way but i wish they could at least step-by-step some common scripting use cases for it in their official docs

"It's a neural network based postprocessing algorithm Nvidia has been advertising that supposedly improves graphics, but ends up drastically changing the source material. It's become bit of a meme since the results are often funny, uncanny, or outright worse than originals"

When it fails:

"subroutines where it gets output from other, non-LLM processes" - you mean tool calls? These have been around since practically the beginning, and they're not built into the model, they're just a postprocessing wrapper.

And our data domain is "neurons fire in, neurons fire out".
