An extract from Dr Andrew J Amos' AHPRA Register of Practitioners entry, reading as follows: On 26 February 2026, the Medical Board of Australia (the Board) imposed conditions. 1. SOCIAL MEDIA 1.1. From 26 February 2026, the practitioner must ensure any engagement on social media, or interaction, is compliant with the Medical Board's Code of Conduct (GOOD MEDICAL PRACTICE: A CODE OF CONDUCT FOR DOCTORS IN AUSTRALIA) and Ahpra and the National Board's SOCIAL MEDIA GUIDELINES. 1.2. The practitioner must not engage in social media posting, or interaction, in relation to gender medicine, gender identity and/or expression, and transgender persons. For the purposes of this condition 'social media' is as defined as all intnernet-based tools that allow individuals and groups to communicate, to advertise or share opinions, information, ideas, messages, experiences, images, and video or audio clips. They may include blogs, social networks, video and photo-sharing sites, wikis, or a myriad of other media, used for: a. social networking (Facebook, Twitter, WeChat, Weibo, WhatsApp) b. professional networking (LinkedIn) c. discussion forums (Reddit, Whirlpool) d. media sharing (YouTube, Flickr, Instagram) e. content production (blogs [Tumblr, Blogger] and microblogs [Twitter])? f. knowledge/information aggregation (Wikipedia)? g. virtual reality and gaming environments (Second Life), and h. booking sites and apps (HealthEngine, Whitecoat, Podium). This definition is outlined in the Board's guidance document — SOCIAL MEDIA: HOW TO MEET YOUR OBLIGATIONS UNDER THE NATIONAL LAW issued by the Medical Board of Australia, November 2019. (Continued from previous post.) This is not an exhaustive list, please refer to SOCIAL MEDIA AND HEALTH CARE PROFESSIONALS: BENEFITS, RISKS, AND BEST PRACTICES for further information. 1.3. For the purpose of compliance with clause 1.1 and 1.2: 1.3.1. the practitioner must provide Ahpra/the Board with all current social media profiles and confirmation whether these profiles are public or private, within seven (7) days from the date of imposition of conditions; 1.3.2. Ahpra/the Board may request social media activity log(s) to confirm the practitioner has not authored any content on social media, including posting, commenting or responding to comments in relation to gender medicine, gender identity and/or expression and transgender eprsons. 2. RESTRICTED PRACTICE 2.1. From 26 February 2026, the practitioner must not practise other than at practice locations that are approved and published below. No practice locations have been approved 2.2 After publication of a practice location, the practitioner must: 2.2.1. not practise if they are the only registered medical practitioner at any practice location. 2.2.2. not practise in any role requiring direct or indirect clinical patient contact (including supervision of other practitioners engaged in direct or indirect clinical contact). For the purpose of this condition, 'contact' is defined as consultation(s), surgeries, procedures, interviews, examinations, treatments, assessments, prescribing for, advising, or otherwise treating a patient directly or indirectly, whether it is in person or on a communication device. 2.2.3. only use their professional knowledge to practise in management, administration, non-clinical education, non-clinical research, advisory, regulatory or policy development roles. 2.3. The practitioner must comply with the AHPRA PROTOCOL: PRACTICE LIMITATIONS in force at the date these conditions are imposed and then as updated from time to time.

CONCLUSION Best Start Family Hubs represent a crucial opportunity to support parents, carers and practitioners to develop good practice on reading for pleasure. Support for parents and carers must focus on the joy of reading and make it easy and attractive for them to engage with young children. REC The Department must ensure that all Best Start Family Hubs are embedding reading for pleasure into their work by offering sessions and advice for parents and carers as well as training for practitioners and support to early years settings on good practice. Every Hub should have a designated Reading for Pleasure lead who is responsible and resourced for designing and leading this work which should include automatic book gifting and guided sessions for parents and carers. Rec The Department should ensure that Best Start Family Hubs provide support for parents and carers on appropriate screen time use for children of different ages, as well as explaining their own role as an adult in modelling appropriate screen time use to their children. REC Best Start Family Hubs should work hard to develop inclusive activities specifically designed to be welcoming to parents and carers who may not have had a positive experience of reading aloud at school or who may struggle to read themselves. The Committee received evidence that such groups can be transformative in unlocking the joy of reading with children for parents and carers and in building confidence. ALT text contd in next post

Advocating with Evidence: Lessons for Tech Researchers in Civil Society November 13, 2025, 10-11am ET online Civil society is struggling to address how technology and the tech industry contribute to eroding democracy, amplifying bias, and accelerating hateful ideologies. Timely, accessible findings are necessary to inform policy and advocacy, but it can be challenging to produce research that is simultaneously rigorous and high-impact. This panel brings together research experts and practitioners who bridge policy and academia to advance civil rights and challenge tech injustice. Drawing on their experience as research leaders, the panelists will discuss how to conduct effective research on the harms of digital technologies and for developing solutions that center marginalized and vulnerable communities.

INBOX: new data from The Trevor Project suggests there are at least Thirteen Hundred active conversion therapy practices in the U.S. a staggering number:
Key Findings: The Trevor Project identified more than 1,320 conversion therapy practitioners across 48 U.S. states and the District of Columbia, including 605 (46%) who hold active professional licenses and 716 (54%) operating in a ministerial or religious capacity. Pennsylvania, Texas, Minnesota, Missouri, and Ohio were the five states with the largest number of identified conversion therapy practitioners, with the South and Midwest as the regions with the highest numbers of identified practitioners. Licensed professional counselors, marriage and family therapists, social workers, and psychologists were the four most common types of licenses among conversion therapy practitioners who hold active professional licenses. The tax exempt status of the Heartwood Center - which has been leading the fight against a proposed Popeyes restaurant in Evanston - is being challenged by a neighbor. Adam Finlayson, who lives at 1216 Darrow Ave., about a block from the site of the proposed restaurant, filed formal complaints Wednesday with the Internal Revenue Service, the state attorney general and the county board of review. He alleges the center has misused a religious tax exemption by leasing office space to health practitioners and renting apartments in buildings it owns. Heartwood, at 1818 Dempster St., describing itself online as a "health care collective," offers a variety of alternative healthcare services, including energy healing, yoga, psychotherapy, cancer treatment programs and hypnotherapy, among others. Heartwood Center's founder, Nancy Floy, recently organized a protest against the proposed restaurant, which would be just west of the Heartwood building. The center reclassified itself as a Buddhist religious organization in 2016, according to tax filings, and stopped filing 990 financial disclosure forms shortly thereafter. Religious organizations claiming church status aren't required to file the financial disclosures, unless they receive unrelated business income. But Finlayson claims
