This is #G7 #PriceCap evasion in action. It’s precisely why more Dark Fleet tankers need to be blacklisted by the US, EU, and UK. #OOTT

In the last month Ukraine has taken back 600km2, Russia has taken 200km2, net gain for Ukraine is 400km2.

And what the US does has very little international impact these days, both India and China are buying at the EU pricecap of 47$/bbl.

Energy bills are rising again 📈

Average bills are nearly twice as high as France, where electricity is nationalised. 💡

If the government is serious about bringing down bills, it needs to get serious about proper public ownership of energy.

each time there's a message about the pricecap going further up I'm ready to vomit

literally fuck this country for letting energy companies get away with this shit over and over again

'we have trouble with gas supplies' THEN WHY IS MY ELECTRICITY PRICE GOING UP?!
August 23, 2024 at 11:10 AM
yes it's definitely the elderly woman with a broken hip's fault that medicine is too expensive. Couldn't possibly be the Pharama companies charging 10,000% the manufacturing costs bc they get a multi decade patent and no pricecap

Honestly it's going to have to start with the states, mayors and governors need to get together and make state tax laws, then money can be used for state funded single payer health, housing reform, childcare, wages on inflation, pricecap on non name brand foods. Etc. States have power, use it.

Make no mistake, today’s energy #pricecap rise is due to our continued reliance on gas, not clean energy development.

New fossil fuel licenses won’t deliver energy security, economic growth nor put pounds in the pockets of UK citizens.

More from @shaunspiers1.bsky.social:
If the government’s looking for growth, Rosebank isn’t where to find it
Last month, the Scottish Court of Session ruled that the decision by the last government to approve the Rosebank oilfield back in September 2023 was unlawful, as it did not account for the largest …

"the lion's share of the #pricecap rise has come from #gas. Let us break it down:

The gas unit price is up 8.7%

The gas standing charge is up 2.2%

The electricity unit rate is up 0.8%

The electricity standing charge is #DOWN 4.1%.

If we want people to embrace renewable energy, we've got to decouple energy prices from the price of gas. Record energy from renewables, but the price cap goes up yet again! If people don't see the benefit, why would they accept solar farms, new pylons etc. ? #pricecap #ofgem #greenenergy

I'm going to have to make a sign to tap here, but once more round the block ...

A PRICE CAP THAT GOES UP EVERY SINGLE TIME THE SUPPLIERS REQUEST AN INCREASE IS NOT A CAP IN ANY SENSE WHATSOEVER.

As #Russia wins the #Iran war (and US looses it)…

… Europe needs to urgently redesign its energy policy. #Pricecap is dead, today.

Cutting of Russia from global market will be impossible

What are the alternatives?
