We Are Being Priced Out Of Normal

We are being priced out of a house, car, groceries, childcare, and insurance.

Those were not extravagant expenses 20 years ago.

Let’s talk #housing

Or social housing

Local authorities are being bullied into accepting less social housing in housing developments across the capital

While London looks like a building site, poorer people are being #PricedOut as local cllrs give into developers

I gave up on CLE Browns a long time ago when the average Joe can't afford to go to a game AND have a beer OR snack!! #PricedOut

An empty National Mall for America’s 250th? Look at the cost breakdown. Regular families are completely priced out when a weekend trip costs $1,400 to $6,000+. People can't afford this.

#HandsInThePiggyBanks from here we can all calculate #exactly when we will #GoBroke. no savings for life. or #vacations. All of us who are living paycheck-to-paycheck can lose our jobs & end up homeless. We have more options⏳️ if we own our own homes. #Renters? We'll be #PricedOut for #gentrification

Very true

“Why aren’t people having kids?” Because they’re paying wages that have barely gone up since the 2000s and a flat is £300k, petrol is £1.60 a litre and Heinz ketchup is £3.00, before you start on the childcare costs

Genuinely affordable housing?

Or housing as investments for those who can afford it?

Seems many councillors locally prefer the latter

#PricedOut

(At least the SE is warmer than most areas in the country for sleeping in your car (if you have one))
wonder what we'll get first. affordable housing or just ask everyone to give up and live in their cars 🤷‍♀️

Genuinely affordable homes

Not affordable ones or even ones for those who can afford £000,000s

The city centre car park has had its day. There is now a significant opportunity to put the land previously used for car parking to much more productive use.

Land that could be used for tens of thousands of homes in city centres.

So less than 1/4

And probably not genuinely affordable

“Affordable” means 80% of the market price generally

“Affordable housing” = 80% of market price

Average market price of housing in the borough = £575k (source Rightmove)

80% = £460k

Who can afford that? Household income would have to be £100k+ pa!

I agree in the disconnect with players and management towards their fans. They might not need their money so much but they need their faces to fill the stands and make the atmosphere for the spectacle of TV on which they do need

And it is a massive disconnect at that level
