She’s not wrong. He didn’t get elected in Carleton because he didn’t serve his riding. Yes he is squatting in Stornaway and 🇨🇦 are complaining to PrivyCouncil and NCC as we’re paying for it while he and his wife own 2 homes in Ottawa. He won’t get a security clearance! He’s IDU. Poor AB gets him now

It is no co-incidence that members of the #PrivyCouncil are compulsorily threaded throughout the very institutions you may have assumed represent you, that's how it's always sold - we even get to vote for some of these players.....their oaths tell them who they work for in establishment terms.

Who Can Be a Member

Cabinet Ministers: All current members of the UK Cabinet are automatically sworn into the Privy Council.

Senior Politicians: Includes former prime ministers, senior figures of the Loyal Opposition, and leaders of major political parties.

Judiciary:

Senior judges from the Court of Appeal, the ***Supreme Court***, and other high-ranking judicial figures.

Clergy:

Senior church officials including the Archbishops of Canterbury and York.

Other Figures:

Select members of the royal family, devolved government first ministers, and prominent Commonwealth representatives.

Key Details & Function Appointment:

Made for life by the Sovereign on the advice of the Prime Minister.

Operations:

Day-to-day business is handled by active government ministers rather than the full roster of members.

Meetings typically convene about once a month with the monarch to approve Orders in Council.

As an aside I visited Britannia the former Royal Yacht at Leith - I recommend a visit - if nothing else for the excellent shipboard royal childrens's tablet & fudge shop. Built because the kids were jealous of the sailors who looked after them getting a free rum tot each day.

The queen's onboard office is visible through a screen and they telephone she used imo is quite a communication tool for someone who was a 'passive observer of her government'.

We may never know whom or what level of power enacted actual shift of progress back - my faint view it may involve late queen - such a #PrivyCouncil briefing would be secured against revelation under Privy Counsellor’s Oath: a strict oath to "keep secret all matters committed & revealed unto you".

The rules for disclosing these Royal Interventions documents through government channels depend on who the communication is with:

The Sovereign, the Heir, and the Second-in-Line:

Under Section 37 of the FOIA ) all communications with the King, the Prince of Wales, and the next in line are absolutely exempt from public disclosure. No public interest test can overturn this block.

Other Members of the Royal Family: Communications with wider royals are subject to a qualified exemption. This means they can theoretically be disclosed if a public authority determines that the public interest in seeing the information outweighs the constitutional need for confidentiality.

2. Cabinet Rules and Briefings

outlines the constitutional convention that the Sovereign has the right "to be consulted, to encourage, and to warn."

Cabinet Papers:

Whitehall precedents, confidential Cabinet papers, memoranda, and agendas are standardly circulated to the Sovereign and the Prince of Wales to brief them on the inner workings of government. ..they cannot be disclosed to public.

3. The Privy Council ***

Many formal state briefings and legislative approvals take place via the Privy Council Office.

The Privy Counsellor's Oath: Members must take a strict oath to "keep secret all matters committed and revealed unto you".

***Prime Minister to securely brief senior opposition politicians on classified state matters (like national security or impending military action) on the condition of absolute secrecy***.

4. Historical Records & The Royal Archives

Based at Windsor Castle, the Royal Archives are the private property of the Sovereign and are entirely exempt from both the FOIA and the Public Records Office.

Government Files: Historical public records under the Public Records Act 1958.

While most official files transition to The National Archives after 20 years, files involving the Royal Family face strict sensitivity screening and can remain closed for much longer.
