There’s a psychometric called “need for cognitive closure,” which measures how uncomfortable people are with ambiguity and how strongly they prefer simple answers.
Turns out it has a positive correlation with conservative ideology!

Also, the way people like this talk about definitions is so fucking weird. It’s as if for them there is a “the” definition that just kind of exists in the world, independent of human beings. I mean, I assume that’s what it is, because there’s no limit on the number of definitions a word can have.
“The definition of sex is always, without exception, whether the individual's body plan is designed to produce eggs or sperm.”
Wild how this creationist-adjacent definition appears nowhere in biology (or anywhere besides Twitter). But thousands of people have been misled into believing this. Crazy.
