A fascinating town about halfway between Puebla and Veracruz. Not a top travel destination on most itineraries, but well worth a visit for those not in a hurry.

Stone-built river walk offers lush mountain greenery as it meanders through the city center several meters below street level. White pillars surround Orizaba’s main indoor market a few blocks from the zocalo. A nun clad in all white walks alone down a side street. Abandoned brick warehouse sits forlorn next to the railroad carrying cargo between Veracruz and the manufacturing centers in central Mexico.
