#Pupillage
If you think Lord Justice Bean was scathing about the judge at first instance, you should have heard him interviewing me for pupillage.

In Chambers all day today for pupillage interviews but at least it's a good view over the gardens. Good luck to all pupillage applicants!

Back after week seven in Birmingham and into Chambers all day today for pupillage interviews. The walk over Waterloo Bridge is a cheer.

Anyone else willing to share their best/worst pupillage/training stories?
As we come up to pupillage season, a path to where we are story.

I went to the Bar to do employment and public for Claimants. I applied to a Labour set (which shall remain nameless) so to do. I got a pupillage. Week 2 the head of chambers - a very talented but somewhat acerbic Scot 1/2

The Admissions Video!!!

One of the greatest things ever committed to tape.

Note for law students: I would genuinely interview any pupillage applicant who sent that in.

(Other note: I don’t actually have any say over the pupillage applications process in our chambers)

When I was applying for pupillage, the drop down included "Lord Chief Justice", which seemed unlikely to be necessary.

I remember a few of my pupillage interviews when I wished I'd brought a portable hole I could just fall into

Things they don’t teach you in Bar School or Pupillage:

Don’t leave your Archbold on the stairs, because cat slobber.

I note that Elle has not yet however addressed the issue of funding. Nor has she, I fear, properly been advised of the chances of securing pupillage/training contract post-law school. She could be one of the 4 in 5 who undertake the Bar Course and don't make it. Food for thought.

Currently at the ELBA stand at Pupillage Fair. I’ve had one visitor and they wanted Employment Law advice 😬

To qualify as a Barrister Sophie Corcoran would need to:
- do a 1 year law postgrad course because her degree is not in law
- do a 1 year bar school course with at least 10 assessments
- secure and complete a 1 year pupillage
Do we think she seriously wanted the internship?

Too downbeat for the day that pupillage offers go out! In 63 minutes to be precise.

I think the pupillage interviewers were right: I do not enjoy oral advocacy, still less examinations.

I prefer pre-action written advocacy.

One finds one’s level eventually.

Waiting for the Dover train at Victoria (for my jaunt to Gillingham v @OfficialPVFC) and getting flashbacks to early trains in pupillage. Trips to Chatham Magistrates only vaguely cheered by a Délice de France emmental feuilleté...
