#Pyridoxine
basically impossible because excess pyridoxine will be lost in urine)

Turns out: pyridoxine competes with the active form of the coenzyme (PLP), so if there is a ton of it, the enzymes that depend on PLP won't work.

Meaning you get a deficiency-like syndrome from overdose.

Biology is silly.

Excessive long-term use if vitamin B6, pyridoxine, can cause nerve damage (peripheral neuropathy).

Have you ever wanted to experience incredibly vivid and wild dreams at night? Try taking 5-HTP, pyridoxine (by itself, not in a B-vitamin complex), and magnesium L-threonate together before bed. It's an absolute trip in my experience.

Potatoes have a Nutrivore Score of 272, which makes them a medium nutrient-dense food! They are particularly rich in vitamin C, polyphenols, vitamin B6 (pyridoxine), copper, potassium, fiber, manganese, vitamin B1 (thiamin), and vitamin B3 (niacin). #nutrivore

A bit of info on B6:

It is this ⬇️ inactive, pyridoxine, form of B6 that can cause neuropathy.

The active, pyridoxal-5-phosphate (P5P) form doesn’t seem to be toxic.

Inactive pyridoxine blocks B6 metabolism when high in blood, mimicking B6 deficiency.

We are living in the fucking dumbest timeline ever!!!

It must be the same people screaming, “Keep these fucking additives (thiamine, riboflavin, niacin, pantothenic acid, pyridoxine, biotin, folate/folic acid, and cobalamin) out of my food!!”

So there was a news report some time ago about how someone was taking supplemental pyridoxine (vitamin B6) and managed to overdose on it and develop a sensory neuropathy, which confused me because:
- this is what happens when you have a deficiency of B6
- it's water-soluble (toxicity should be...

As the son of 2 chemists, you should know what chemicals niacinamide and pyridoxine are.

Lemons are “simply the zest!”

Per serving (1 cup, sections / ~2.5 lemons), lemons deliver 125% DV vitamin C, 347.7 mg polyphenols, 5.9 g fiber, and 10% DV vitamin B6 (pyridoxine).

Lemons have a Nutrivore Score of 477, lemon peels are 618 and lemon juice is 339!

In primary school, I was a v. good speller. My teacher allowed a few of us to make up our own, more challenging lists each week. I chose the ingredients on cereal boxes: Thiamine mononitrate, pyridoxine hydrochloride, etc. They sounded hard but were mostly phonetic. I thought I was so clever. 🙄

Although P5P is not considered to be toxic, I have spoken with people who do worsen when they take it still.

Biology is anything but straightforward, and side effects can always occur in individuals even when they’re not supposed to in most people.

But I’d strongly avoid taking pyridoxine.

Things like pyridoxine hydrochloride, niacinamide, and sodium caseinate sound scary until you spend a minute googling and find out they're Vitamin B6, Vitamin B3, and a natural milk product that even humans naturally produce respectively.
