Not on my watch

-Inspector Olivia Quanson, Lead investigator of the SkeetNik Control Authority

Sergeant Clay Cantrell is almost exactly the same in the novel, except his last name is Quanson and his head is shaved. He describes himself as “unskilled except in killing.” I wouldn’t change a thing about Keith David’s iconic presence in the film.

In the novel, Herod’s domicile used to be the church. In front was an old statue of Jesus. Right before the Herod-Quanson fight, Ellen shoots it to pieces in a fit of PTSD rage. But I can see why Ellen shooting a statue of Jesus didn’t make it in this already atheist-coded movie.

Simp Dixon doesn’t enter the Quick Draw Jamboree (yes, it’s called that) in the novel but is mentioned as a background character twice. His spot goes to a novel-only character named Mad Dog Dick O’Toole. Horace asks if he’s related to Peter O’Dong. He loses to Dred or Quanson off-page but survives.
