#R-Shift
Let’s hope the shift continues and that Massie and Greene are not the only (R)s with the guts to be vocal about the depravity of the goddamn U.S. President real soon.

Estimated redistricting shift so far:

Texas +5 R
California +5 D
Utah +1 D
Missouri +1 R
North Carolina +1 R
Ohio +1 to +2 R
Virginia +4 D

Net: roughly +1 to +2 Democratic seats nationally

BREAKING -- Republican hopes for 2026

Special elections for House show MASSIVE swing of 16-17 points toward Democrats:

FL-01
Nov 24 - R+32
Tonight - R+15

FL-06
Nov 24 - R+30
Tonight - R+14

These were deep red districts. But a 16-17pt shift would swing 45-48 House seats BLUE.

Blender Tip: Blender has a lot of tools to automate repetitive tasks, and the very easiest of them is the Shift-R, which just repeats whatever the heck you did last. Need a row of things? Make a copy, then Shift-R, Shift-R, Shift-R.

When 2024 was about R+1.5 this presents a near 10pt shift and puts Iowa/Alaska/Texas/Ohio Senate into the *something* happening zone
Generic Ballot:
Dems 50% - 42% GOP (+8) NBC News
Dems 49% - 41% GOP (+8) Strength In Numbers

Ds don't seem to be getting what they need out of Nashville. But if the margin lands at R+3, that's a D+19 shift from 2024 -- we're not talking a wave, we're talking tsunami
again @gelliottmorris.com says behn still has a chance but damn 3 points in this district is 🦇💩

Republicans easily held onto GA14, the seat vacated by Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene R-GA. But when you dig into the county numbers, you can see what happened - a 20-30 point shift to the Democrats.

Ratings changes from Cook:

#GASen: Lean D to Likely D

The Fight for the Senate Is a True Toss Up; Three Races Shift Toward Democrats
With just under six weeks until Election Day, control of the Senate is on a knife’s edge as the handful of key races that will decide the majority remain within the margin of error.

As an R strategist, you'd probably feel better about a 16-point D shift in a special election with 60% of midterm turnout than a 12-point shift with 100% of midterm turnout.

Wisconsin
2024: Trump +0.8%
2025: Crawford +10%
Net shift: D +9.2%

Florida's 6th
2024: Trump +30%
2025: Fine (R) +14%
Net shift: D +16%

Florida's 1st
2024: Trump +37%
2025: Patronis (R) +15%
Net shift: D +22%

A 9 point shift gives Dems the House in 2026. A 16 point shift puts then Senate in play.

The only vibe shift that mattered to them was to get to toss the word r****d around more liberally

Take NC-8, where Fort Bragg is located.

When NC Republicans got greedy and redistricted, they shifted this district from R+20 to just R+10.

That means it's already in contention for an upset given the general shift towards Democrats this cycle. And if Dem candidate Colby Watson leans on this?

so that would entail uh, +32D shift?

no wonder they're terrified pulling from R+1-20 seats
GOP now leads by 5.5% with 74% of the vote in.

Really hard to carve out those +5 R districts when you're seeing even the most conservative spots shift 4-5 pts left...

btw stairs are kinda trivial to make now that theres proper snapping since Blender 4.0. you just need to press B to set the snap base point after you press Shift+D. then mash Shift+R to repeat the copy

might be less hassle than the bevel trick

Another reminder that doomerism is for losers and helps nobody.

A R+22 district like TN-07 becoming a R single digit district they had to fight for is still a pretty big shift and spells big trouble for the bad guys next year in the midterms.

Feeling pretty good about my predictions here. Figured it would shift hard, but not enough because r +20 is a lot.

The early shift of games is ass so I followed @jasonkirk.fyi’s rec and got up r/drizzy and wow there is some amazing shit happening there

I want one of those little arrow maps that shows the D->R shift from 2012 to 2024 in votes of people who believe in Pet Psychics
Like here’s a little overflow stack of books I read when writing about *just* the sub-subcategory of *pet psychics*—which is its own thriving *industry*! Pet psychics make money; people believe them. Does any critical reporting or scholarship track any of that on a continuous basis? (I don’t!)

They’re literally trying to shift views on IVF right now. In 5 years, anti-IVF will probably be mainstream R platform.

Did you know you can press WIN + Shift + R to record your screen in Windows 11?
May 13, 2026 at 1:46 PM
The way Rs redrew the map, there is no meaningful weakening of Likely R seats to Lean R/Tossup to turn those Dem seats red. It’s entirely a shift to the right. They were smart about this, and carved out voters from deep, deep red seats to move the needle. No “dummymander”

Here are prez #s for 2024 & 2020 for the five targeted D seats, plus the GOP's two most at-risk seats

As I say, it's possible the GOP fails to flip some targets, esp. looking at 2020 #s (#TX28 gets a bit bluer by that metric!). But their two most vulnerable seats barely budge under either set of #s
