Thursday - a fine afternoon, ideal for visiting RHSWisley, Surrey, recent drought capital of UK.

Gardens superb, as usual; southern half of main lake just a puddle and many shrubs had badly scorched leaves - never seen anything like that. They irrigate so assume due to strength of hot sunshine.

Tomorrow off to Wisely
@RHSWisley
in the audience for a recording of GQT. Looking forward to this. Be warned, there will be selfies/pics posted with some of the panel! I used to be so Rock n Roll but this is just how I 'Roll' nowadays, and all the better for it! #Gardening @petergibbs.bsky.social

Good morning
Rather pleased to see a thriving Koelreuteria paniculata at RHSWisley on Tuesday, unusually (in our experience) displaying flowers and seed pods at the same time. We had one we loved in our French garden and would like to plant one in our new garden.
Off to gym shortly. See you later!

Two of our admins had the best time walking through the stunning gardens of #rhswisley with @drsuemoss.bsky.social!🤩 It was next level amazing to see the places that inspired one of our favourite historical sapphic series.😍

37.2C has been recorded at RHSWisley. No wonder I’ve felt too hot.

Persica hybrid ‘Bright As A Button’ looking just that yesterday at the Persica Rose Trials, currently underway at @RHSWisley
The Trials and Gardens Teams are doing a splendid job, keeping the trials, borders and features looking good - as ‘fresh as a daisy’ you might say. #rosewednesday 🌱

A rather striking batch of Salvia Tropicolour Sunrise at RHS Wisley plant centre with the proud breeders Rolando Uria and Francisco Javier Lozano.

Looking forward to pressing on with Carmine and Claret this year.

Visited @RHSWisley for the 1st 2026 #persicarosetrials review, many flowering freely & looking good. Persica #rose Eye of the Storm. Whilst there overheard teacher to little girl in a school party: ‘put the snail down, you can’t take it with you.’ A ‘Joyce Grenfell’ moment! 🌱

Dactylorhiza (Marsh Orchid) naturalised through the Alpine meadow @rhswisley. You don't need to leave the garden path to find these little gems,
No need to trample through the meadow.

Liriodendron tulipifera (Tulip Tree) @rhswisley.
So easy to just walk past this tree, but it's in full bloom at the moment. Certainly stopped me in my tracks.

We had an amazing time at #RHSWisley for the first session of our new Certificate in Community Orcharding Course (CICO) 😊

Based in the new Greener Skills Garden, we're just a few minutes' walk from the beautiful veteran orchard & World Food Garden.

I am going to try and ignore the deeply depressing election results by concentrating on things that make me happy. This patch of poppies is growing on the car park side of the Old Lab @RHSWisley so not many people see them as they rush to go into the garden.

🌱 One of my favourite plant names is Podophyllum ‘Spotty Dotty’. It is growing in one of the walled gardens @RHSWisley and has just started producing stunning and unusual flowers but you have to lift the leaves to see them. Apart from voting I will be in my tiny garden today.

Another day and another tour @RHSWisley. Today’s tour is just for two people. One of them bought it as a gift for the other. I hope I can make her day!
