BREAKING — Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) staffers who were put on admin leave on Monday just got letters letting them know they’re a part of a Reduction in Force (RIF) and that their job will be “abolished” effective May 4th in accordance with Trump’s EO, per copy reviewed by me.

Here’s a thing that’s troubling me:
some of the agencies that engaged in a RIF, are also now hiring new people.
To me, that looks like changing out minorities and non-Trumpers for white Trumpers.
And if I get concrete proof of this, I will be taking it to court.
A fraudulent RIF is illegal AF!

The only exception to that is with respect to reductions in force (RIFs). The bill appears to both roll back RIFs announced during the shutdown and prevent any further RIFs between now and Jan 30.

That includes the reduction-in-force (RIF) actions she authorized at Voice of America, although the full legal impact will continue to play out in court.

RIF Update: The proposed appropriations legislation would invalidate RIFs conducted between 10/1/25 and 1/30/26. (Section 120). It does not include any provisions invalidating RIFs pre-10/1/25 or preventing future RIFs conducted after 1/30/26.

What happened is Trump tried to close CFPB in Feb. A judge stopped him.
Now he’s using RIF to close CFBP. No. Gutting CFBP is illegal. The courts must stop this too.

I really hope someone in dem policy circles is coming up with a plan for ICE and CBP doing what police departments have done when there’s a DA they don’t like: quiet quit and half ass the actually legit parts of the job and loudly tell friendly media that they can’t do their jobs, Because of Woke
One thing that's important to realize now is that, even in a scenario where Dems sweep to a crushing trifecta in 2028, Republicans will use their control of the courts to attempt to continue, as much as they can, to run executive agencies in exile, with DHS/ICE under Biden as the model

Congrats to our friends at AFGE for their initial victory against the Trump administration challenging the RIF.
