RP is a progressive inherited retinal condition.
It often begins with difficulty seeing in low light and can gradually affect peripheral vision.
No two people experience RP in the same way.

I get this a lot. It's usually meant as a compliment. But most #blind people hate this phrase, so unless you know the person well, best not to use it. #RPAwarenessMonth
This week’s Myth Busting Monday tackles the phrase “you don’t look blind.” Sight loss isn’t always visible. RP varies day to day and person to person, and no one should have to “look” a certain way to be believed. Every experience is valid. #RPAwarenessMonth

“I was told I would never work.”

Dave, Engagement Manager for SE England, was diagnosed with RP at 16. He was told he’d eventually go blind and never work.

He’s now built a career across multiple roles, adapting as his sight changed.

RP affects everyone differently. One volunteer shares:

“One of the biggest changes RP has brought into my life is learning to ask for help and accept it… I find kindness in strangers every day, which is hugely life affirming.”

#nature #trees #blind #photography. One of the few good things about tunnel vision is that I often see things that others don't. Kind of ironic. I'm sure the people walking past seeing me take a photo of this thought I was mad😬 #RPAwarenessMonth
