sometimes you meet an actor who has made Shakespeare their whole personality and you just know they are insufferable at parties

but there's something special about those iconic RSC-trained British actors (Patrick Stewart, Emma Thompson, Stephen Fry) who preserved their chaos demon energy intact

Almost none of those great RSC actors 1964-84 had money. Alan Howard came from a little. Holm, Suchet & Dench came from doctors, McKellen & Scofield from schoolteachers, Helen Mirren's dad was a cabbie, Ian Richardson's parents worked for McVitie's biscuits,

I'd kill to write up a result like "22% of neurons in the RSC were Shire-Selective"

Justin Sun wants Trump's World Liberty Financial sanctioned for not telling a federal court until August that two UAE entities, both named Aryam Investment 1 SPV RSC, are in its ownership chain.

WSJ has tied that vehicle to UAE national security adviser Sheikh Tahnoon.

We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of RSC Honorary Associate Artist, Sir Patrick Stewart; a colossus of both stage and screen and one of the finest classical Shakespearean actors of his generation.

What sad news of #PatrickStewart. A mesmeric and powerful actor. A huge fan and compadre of DW's since his early days - this extraordinary partnership in TNG Chain of Command, was their first acting reunion since Hamlet at the RSC. RIP to one of the very finest actors.

English stage and screen actress Juliet Stevenson was born #OnThisDay in 1956. She wore this Maria Bjornson designed black and gold ensemble with military-inspired braid and frogging as Hippolyta in the 1981 production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream. The RSC collection. #theatre #costume

like if I was some doofus child actor suddenly on set with an RSC vet I’d be pretty embarassing

In the early 80s John Barton lead a televised acting workshop with a bunch of young RSC members called Playing Shakespeare. Everyone in it is incredible. I have watched it dozens of times

I used to have fish and chips with him in L.A. and NYC. He was great to talk to. Loved his work with the RSC at Stratford-upon-Avon. Wonderful Shakespearean actor.

Patrick Stewart played Prospero when I was at the RSC. At the opening I got a drink, I turn round I’m suddenly talking to him along with several friends of mine. I was terrified but in about six seconds I saw he was one of us.

Jesus man!
The Emeritus Chancellor of Huddersfield Uni when we lived there.
Also, @guapaish.bsky.social was a huge fan, so I surreptitiously got RSC tickets when he was Shylock in Merchant of Venice.
She had no idea, but walking through the RSC she saw a poster, "was that Patrick Stewart?", "
Ah man, that really sucks. RIP

First, if the GOP keeps House + Senate: they already passed OBBBA (cutting $187B from SNAP, imposing Jan 1, 2027 Medicaid work rules) and June's Secure America Act. Now House Republicans queued up a $95B "Reconciliation 3.0" cut blueprint, and RSC wants to gut Medicaid expansion match rates next.

At risk of sounding like a hipster his RSC performances are some of the best ever

It’s actually terrifying how she can lie with such impunity. She should audition for the RSC.

That impeccable RSC diction on “BUTT stuff” was the man in a nutshell. Classy af, deeply goofy sense of humor.

I mean giving an RSC alum a set-piece monologue about human rights is kind of like asking Shohei Ohtani to hit off a tee.

An absolute fabulous actor. His Prospero at RSC was just brilliant and the speech at the end quite astonishingly moving. Miss him x
